‎EDITION ORIGINALE. E.-M. Siauve, né à Saint-Etienne en 1757, fut dabord prêtre, vicaire près de Saint-Etienne (La Ricamarie), puis commissaire des guerres dans son département. Député de la Loire au Conseil des Cinq-Cents du 10 avril au 11 mai 1798, il est nommé sous-chef au ministère de la guerre et à nouveau commissaire des guerres aux armées de 1800 à 1812. Cet adepte de la théophilanthropie meurt le 12 juillet 1812 à Saratov lors de la retraite de Russie. Son mémoire porte sur les tombes mérovingiennes de Civaux, village situé entre Poitiers et Limoges. Il y évoque également les tombeaux de Saint-Pierre-les-Eglises (Chauvigny), des Carrières de La Tour, le cimetière du confluent du Clainet les traces archéologiques présentes au temple de Saint-Jean à Poitiers et dans dautres monuments religieux du Poitou.
