‎Seconde édition du voyage de Tournefort Le botaniste Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (1656-1708) fut chargé par Louis XIV d'un grand voyage d'exploration dans le Levant, sur proposition de Pontchartrain afin de faire des observations sur l'histoire naturelle et la géographie mais également sur tout ce qui concerne le commerce. Accompagné du botaniste allemand Andreas Gundelsheimer et du dessinateur Claude Aubriet, ils parcoururent la Crète, la Grèce, la Turquie, la Géorgie et l'Arménie durant deux ans, de 1700 à 1702. 2 vol. in 1, titles printed in red and black, 89 engraved maps and plates (several showing 2 or more subjects), numerous half-page engraved illustrations, one board missing.
