‎Cet économiste français d'origine italienne, né à Carrare en 1787, assassiné à Rome en 1848 par les révolutionnaires romains était doué d'une intelligence souple et forte, d'un caractère passionné et contenu, unissant l'imagination au bon sens, la hardiesse au calcul, M. Rossi a été un théoricien circonspect, un professeur consommé, un législateur conciliant et un politique généreux (Larousse XIX°, 13, 1403-1404). ‎

‎Armand Porée suivit le cours d'économie politique du Collège de France, fondé en 1831, et pour lequel Rossi ne tarda pas à succéder à Jean-Baptiste Say mort en 1832. De disciple de l'excellent professeur, il en devint un collaborateur car il recueillit ses leçons, celles des cours entre 1836 et 1838. Les trente-six premières (T. I et II) ont été écrites par Rossi et les autres (T. III et IV) ont été rédigées par Porée à partir de ses notes sténographiques de la parole du maître.Homme politique et professeur en Suisse et en France, Rossi (1787-1848) devint ambassadeur auprès du Saint-Siège puis ministre du gouvernement de Pie IX.Exemplaire de l'évêque Marie-Charles de Cormont (1847-1933), en poste à la Martinique entre 1900 et 1911. - - VENTE PAR CORRESPONDANCE UNIQUEMENT‎

‎First printing - and Simon Kuznets copy - of Rostow's famous work in which Rostow, probably for the first time, introduced an analytical tool and framework to analyze growth and progress in historical and contemporary economics. Rostow states in the preface that: ""I should like to acknowledge valuable exchanges with [...] S. S. Kuznets"" (Preface, p. IX).Rostow's work is to a large extent a response to Marx's stages (of feudalism, capitalism, socialism, and communism). Rostow's categorized economic growth and development in four stages: 1.The traditional society" 2.The pre-condition for take off 3.The drive to maturity" 4.The age of high mass consumption. Simon Smith Kuznets (1901 - 1985) Russian American economist was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for ""his empirically founded interpretation of economic growth which has led to new and deepened insight into the economic and social structure and process of development"".Kuznets revolutionized econometrics with the important book ""National Income and Its Composition, 1919-1938. Published in 1941 which eventually formed the famous Kuznets Curve. This work relied to a large extent on Bowley's work on national income.‎
