‎ Entstanden um 1816/17. 2x 5 cm Durchm. / 2x 3 cm Durchm., Boden wie Deckel jedes Zinnmedaillons mit Reliefdarstellung und Umschrift, im Innern beidseitig beschriebene Textblätter und handkolorierte Stiche in Form und Grösse des Medaillons, ein Stich signiert G(eorg) Adam, insges. 15 Bl. (16 kolorierte Stiche), dazu noch eingeklebte Textbl. in jedem Medaillon, die Medaillons tragen die Herstellerangabe Stettner, im passenden Etui mit Leder, wohl aus der Zeit. (1 Schliesse von 2).‎

‎,Schraubtaler’, Screw-medals (double-sided medals containing leaves with engraved microtext and handcoloured illustrations) portraying the War of the sixth Coalition. Germany. 4 tin medals (2x3/2x5 cm) issued by Thomas Stettner in Nürnberg around 1816/17. Stettner was an engraver specialised in these items. The screw-medals show on each side a portrait or allegorical character in relief. The smaller medals present the portraits of the German generals Blücher and Wrede, while the larger ones are dedicated to the liberation of Germany and the victorious rulers Czar Alexander I., King Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia and the emperor Franz I. of Austria. Within the screw-medals are small leaves of the same shape and size as the medals with fine handcoloured engravings showing battle scenes with accompanying texts (at least some of these engravings by the draughtsman and etcher Georg Adam (1784-1823).Seltene Zusammenstellung von Schraubtalern oder ‘medaillons’ des Graveurs und Medailleurs (Johann) Thomas Stettner aus Nürnberg, der sich auf die Herstellung solcher Schraubmünzen spezialisierte. Zumindest ein Teil der sehr feinen, farbig gefassten Stiche stammt aus der Hand des Zeichners und Kupferätzers Georg Adam (1784-1823). Während die beiden kleineren Münzen jeweils zu Ehren der deutschen Feldherrn Blücher und Wrede entstanden und deren Portrait im Relief tragen, wurden die beiden grösseren der Befreiung Deutschlands 1813, bzw. den 3 siegreichen Herrschern Zar Alexander I., Friedrich Wilhelm III., K. v. Preussen und Kaiser Franz I. v. Österreich gewidmet. Letztere zeigt denn auch die Reliefportraits der 3 Fürsten auf der einen, und die Germania auf der anderen Seite. Die sehr fein gedruckten Mikrotexte und Stiche zeigen und erläutern für den Betrachter die kriegerischen Ereignisse gegen Ende der napoleonischen Kriege, u.a. die Schlachten von Leipzig, Lützen, Bautzen, Denewitz, Laon u. Katzbach, die Vernichtung des 1. franz. Armeekorps unter General Vandamme, den Einzug in Paris. Thomas Stettner hat in den ersten Jahrzehnten des 19.
