‎Summary When the canons of the Congregation of Windesheim set about codifying their liturgy in the final decades of the 14th century, they had to reckon with the striking variety of customs among the different dioceses, nations, and religious orders of the Roman rite. In their perplexity, they turned to Radulph of Rivo (ca. 1350?1403), dean of Our Lady of Tongres and canon law professor at Cologne. Radulph travelled to Rome to discover the sources of its ancient liturgy. There he was alarmed to discover that even in Rome authentic traditions had been displaced by novelties, and he accused the Franciscans specifically of unlawfully abbreviating or altering the offices. In his reply to the canons of Windesheim, entitled De canonum observantia (ca. 1400), Radulph charts a course of conservative liturgical reform that hews closely to Roman authority. ‎Un classique de Louis de HERICOURT ( 1687 - 1752 ) dans une édition de 1748 relativement rare . Juriste , avocat au Parlement de Paris en 1712 , journaliste ayant longtemps collaboré au Journal des Savants , Louis de Héricourt publia de nombreux ouvrages de droit , canonique et civil . " En 1719 , M. de Héricourt a donné la première édition des Lois ecclésiastiques de France , mises dans leur ordre naturel . La seconde édition a paru en 1721 . On en a depuis donné une troisième édition augmentée & corrigée en 1729 (en fait , 1730 ) . L' auteur a profité des critiques qui ont été faites de son livre , & des avis qu' on lui a donnés , pour corriger des fautes qui lui étoient échapées dans la première édition . Il en a donné une nouvelle en 1743 " ( Moréri , Le grand dictionnaire .... , 1759 , T. V, p. 621 ) . ‎The version of the Rule of St Augustine used at the Abbey of St Victor began with the command to love God above all things and one?s neighbor as oneself.
