‎Het kasteeldomein Nieuwermolen in Sint-Ulriks-Kapelle (Dilbeek) is een uitzonderlijk landgoed, omringd door vijvers, groen en bossen. Ondanks de nabijheid van de grootstad Brussel behield het opmerkelijk goed zijn landelijk karakter. Eeuwenlang bleef het landgoed ? meestal door vererving in de vrouwelijke lijn ? in het bezit van legistenfamilies. In 1879 kwam het in handen van de familie de Ghellinck d?Elseghem, de huidige eigenaar. Wat Nieuwermolen zo bijzonder maakt, is dat het nauwelijks evolueerde sinds 1623, terwijl de meeste kastelen in eclectische of historiserende stijl werden verbouwd en hun parken in landschappelijke stijl werden heraangelegd. Vijf figuratieve kaarten in het rijke huisarchief (waarvan vier getekend door landmeters uit de familie De Deken) informeren ons over de architectuur- en tuingeschiedenis van het domein. Pas in 1928?1933 vond een grondige, maar respectvolle renovatie van het kasteel plaats door architect Paul Saintenoy, in opdracht van burggraaf Amaury Marc de Ghellinck en zijn gezin, de eerste permanente bewoners van het landgoed. Het boek bespreekt de inplanting van het domein in het landschap en vertelt het verhaal van de opeenvolgende families die het kasteel betrokken. Bijzondere aandacht krijgen de analyse van het kasteelgebouw en de renovatie in de jaren 1930, evenals de evolutie van de tuinen. De zakagenda?s van Amaury Marc de Ghellinck zijn een uitgelezen bron gebleken voor de renovatie en het dagelijkse leven op het kasteel in de eerste helft van de twintigste eeuw.
