‎Abram Games (1914-96) was one of the 20th century's most innovative and important graphic designers. His remarkable career spanned 60 years, during which time he was responsible for some of the most enduring images ever produced in Britain. Games produced hundreds of posters as well as stamps, book jackets and emblems, including those for the Festival of Britain (1951) and BBC Television (1953). Other clients included British Airways, the Financial Times, Guinness, Shell and Transport for London. During World War II he was appointed Official War Poster Designer and designed 100 posters. His personal philosophy of "maximum meaning, minimum means" gave all his works a distinctive conceptual and visual quality. This book, accompanying a major exhibition at the Design Museum, features 180 colour illustrations of his best-known work as well as many examples of unpublished designs from his own extensive archive.‎

‎Il Libro dell'Arte wordt binnen de kunst- en restauratiewereld beschouwd als het absolute standaardwerk op het gebied van de oude schildertechnieken. Het is het best bewaarde middeleeuwse traktaat over kunst en wordt vermeld in zowat alle studies over schilder- en restauratietechniek. Over Cennino d'Andrea Cennini (1360?-1427?) is maar weinig bekend. Hij zou geboren zijn omstreeks 1360 in Colle di Val d'Elsa, een stadje in de provincie Siena. Cennino leerde de beginselen van het kunstambacht bij zijn vader Andrea en trok hierna naar de werkplaats van Agnolo Gaddi in Florence, waar hij tien jaar bleef. Vanaf 1388 vinden we hem terug bij de uitvoering van de Sint-Stefanusreeks in de Sint-Lucchesekerk in de buurt van Poggibonsi. Vervolgens vestigt hij zich in Padua waar hij zijn beroemde boek schrijft. Van Il Libro dell'Arte zijn drie manuscripten overgeleverd. Deze Nederlandse vertaling berust op de oudste en meest originele versie: een afschrift uit 1437 dat gekopieerd werd door een gevangene in de Florentijnse Carcere delle Stinche. Il Libro dell'Arte is niet alleen interessant door de overzichtelijke manier waarop de schildertechnieken worden uitgelegd, maar ook vanwege de tijdgeest die uit het werk blijkt. Cennino's verfijnde nuanceringen en zijn gedegen vakkennis maken dit boek tot een uniek document dat zowel voor de hedendaagse schilders en restaurateurs als voor de kunstliefhebber veel te genieten biedt.‎

‎Huis Schuylenburch is een gebouw in barok-stijl uit 1715 aan de Lange Vijverberg in Den Haag, met uitzicht over de Hofvijver. Het behoort tot de Top 100 van de Rijksdienst voor de Monumentenzorg . Het is een ontwerp van Dani l Marot. Met name de top van de gevel is bijzonder. Felix du Sart had de leiding over de bouw van Schuylenburch. Het huis werd bewoond door Cornelis van Schuylenburch (1683?1763). Zijn broer Johan was zo onder de indruk van dit huis dat hij zijn eigen huis aan de Korte Vijverberg (het huidige Kabinet der Koningin) in 1724 liet verbouwen in de stijl van Dani l Marot. Het gebouw is sinds 1885 in gebruik als residentie van de Duitse ambassadeur.‎
