‎C'est en 1900 que parut la première édition de cet ouvrage sur l'Arabie, un des nombreux composéssur l'Islam par le révérend Samuel Marinus Zwemer (1867-1952), missionnaire américain qui s'occupa de la station de Busra (Bahrein) de 1891 à 1905, puis exerça son apostolat en Egypte de 1913 à 1926.
