Picturesque Tour from Geneva to Milan, by way of the Simplon: Illustrated with thirty six couloured views of the most striking scenes and of the principal works belonging to the new road constructed over that mountain, engraved from designs by J. and J. Lory, of Neufchatel; and accompanied with particulars historical and descriptive by Frederic Schoberl. (Title on spine: Tour through the Simplon. 36 plates coloured).

Untrimmed copy in an original publisher’s light-brown clothbound, spine richly gilt, covers blindstamped. Housed in a clothbox with green morocco-leather spine with gilt title and year 1820.
A perfect copy in bright colouring in which 2 new plates, here published for the first time, were added (compared with the 1811 ed. by Didot or the 1819 new ed. by Guillaume Haas): N° 35 View of Pliniana & N° 36 View of Milan. The plate n° 2 (of the 1811 ed.) has been cancelled.Very fine & rare early English edition in delightful colouring. Engraved map ‘Plan of the road of the Simplon’ bound as frontispice, signed H.
