Première édition de cette version italienne du voyage (à l’inverse) de Genève à Milan. Ouvrage illustré de 30 fort jolies vues gravées à l'aquatinte gravées par Landini, Fumagalli et Rupp et imprimées en bistre, parmi lesquelles Genève, Sion, St Maurice, Brigue, etc. etc. Ce sont en grande partie des réductions fort bien exécutées des estampes de Lory.Prendendo questi a modello l'editore milanese Ferdinando Artaria redasse (da come si ricava nella dedica al letterato Davide Bertolotti) e pubblicò una analoga guida invertendo però la consueta direzione del viaggio da Ginevra a Milano, vista la destinazione al pubblico dei viaggiatori Italiani.Le 30 tavole incise in seppia all'acquatinta riprendono quelle realizzate da Lory nella sua edizione in folio del 1811 e nell'edizio dell'Ackermann del 1820. La carta ripiegata a fine volume indica le stazioni di posta e fornisce numerose indicazioni storico-turistiche Curiosamente sono riportate assai vicine le altezze di Monte Bianco (abbassato di 32 m) e del Monte Rosa (alzato di 102 m)!. Opera assai rara nella sua confezione originale. cf. Picturesque Tour from Geneva to Milan, by way of the Simplon: Illustrated with thirty six couloured views of the most striking scenes and of the principal works belonging to the new road constructed over that mountain, engraved from designs by J. and J. Lory, of Neufchatel; and accompanied with particulars historical and descriptive by Frederic Schoberl. (Title on spine: Tour through the Simplon. 36 plates coloured).

A perfect copy in bright colouring in which 2 new plates, here published for the first time, were added (compared with the 1811 ed. by Didot or the 1819 new ed. by Guillaume Haas): N° 35 View of Pliniana & N° 36 View of Milan.
