‎Summary This collection of essays explores the multifaceted representation of power and authority in a variety of late antique and medieval hagiographical narratives (Lives, Martyr Acts, oneiric and miraculous accounts). The narratives under analysis, written in some of the major languages of the Islamicate world and the Christian East and Christian West ? Arabic, Armenian, Georgian, Greek, Latin, Middle Persian, Ottoman Turkish, and Persian ? prominently feature a diverse range of historical and fictional figures from a wide cross-section of society ? from female lay saints in Italy and Zoroastrians in Sasanian and Islamic Iran to apostles and bishops and emperors and caliphs. L'humaniste et poète français Marc-Antoine Muret lui écrira un long poème : "Ad Petrum Gerardium". Quant au philologue et humaniste italien né en Toscane à San Sepolcro, Roberto Titi (1551-1609), il n'a que 20 ans lorsqu'il publie ses chansons à la suite de celles de Gherardi. Etabli à Florence, une vive querelle l'opposera à Scaliger ; il obtiendra une place de professeur à Bologne et finira sa vie à Pise, invité par le Grand Duc Ferdinand. Bon état (une piqûre de vers, reliure lég. frottée, qq. petites mouill., bon exemplaire à toutes marges par ailleurs) pour cette belle impression florentine. Rare copy of the first edition of the songs of the translator of Aristotle and Latin poet, Pietro Gherardi di Borgo San Sepolcro. The French humanist and poet Marc-Antoine Muret wrote him a long poem: “Ad Petrum Gerardium”. The other Italian philologist and humanist born in Tuscany in San Sepolcro, Roberto Titi (1551-1609)was only 20 years old when he published his songs following those of Gherardi. Established in Florence, a heated quarrel pitted him against Scaliger; he obtained a professorship in Bologna and ended his life in Pisa, invited by the Grand Duke Ferdinand. La sua poetica appare meno rettilinea, ma più dialogante, alla ricerca di una via per uscire dalla gabbia dello stereotipo erotico: e se non così 'difficile' come in passato risulta la sua adesione alle direttive augustee, più ricca appare la strumentazione posta in atto da Properzio per nutrire la propria vocazione, per cercare una strada autonoma: far risuonare nella propria la voce virgiliana ma con un mutato orientamento, una nuova discorsività. Del resto, dobbiamo prepararci a pensare in termini rinnovati o perlomeno più definiti lo stesso personaggio Properzio: un Sesto Properzio finanzia in età augustea o giulio-claudia la costruzione in Assisi di un teatro probabilmente legato alla Domus Musae. Così, la prosopografia properziana si profila strettamente intrecciata alla storia della letteratura di età imperiale, e può gettare luce anche sui possibili consumatori di poesia elegiaca. ‎Summary The focus of the Latin Vulgaire - Latin Tardif book series lies on the complex and multifaceted problem of late and so-called vulgar Latin. Specifically, starting out from a wide range of methodological approaches involving all levels of language, the series' main purpose is to investigate how Classical Latin (i.e. the language used in the period from ca. 100 BC to AD 100 by authors such as Cicero, Horace and Vergil) underwent the changes during the late period (i.e. mainly between the 3rd and the 7th century AD) that resulted in (the early stages of) the Romance languages. To this purpose, three main types of linguistic sources are taken into consideration. First, direct Latin sources, which include for instance texts written by people with a lesser level of literacy (e.g. inscriptions, soldiers' letters), or by fully literate authors reproducing colloquial language deliberately (e.g. Petronius, Apuleius). Second, indirect Latin sources, which consist of metalinguistic testimonies of ancient authors (mainly, but not exclusively, grammarians) dealing with the language variation typical of their time and region. And third, the Romance idioms themselves: by comparing sources in at least two Romance varieties, one may reconstruct Latin words or forms which were used widely in spoken usage but, for different reasons, are not attested in any extant source. Cet ouvrage logico-métaphysique, sans table des matières, est divisé en cinq traités de longueur inégale. Il explore la notion d?intentio, déclinée en intentiones primae, secundae et tertiae.
