Moreti, 1630, in-folio, 30,5 x 19,5 cm, titlepage** + (6)nn pp + 344 pp + (9)(index) + (1)(woodcut printer's mark), with 6 double page engravings and numerous engravings in the text, contemporary full vellum. ** Titlepage. The book was published with an engraved titlepage (Galle). Our copy has instead an original contemporary wash-drawing which is exactly similar to the engraving. Even the engraved textlines have been perfectly rendered. The drawing is of such an astonishing quality that one is tempted to link this design somehow with the creation of this titlepage. (The drawing has some thumbmarks in the lower righthand corner which led to a part of the drawing being partly erased, roughly a triangle of 5 x 5 cm).
