Album d'aquarelles originales d'Inde sur mica et autres images, superbe reliure romantique Superb 19th century straight-grained purple morocco binding, blind-stamped and richly decorated in gold, a pattern of dentelles with floral and decorative designs in red, green and brown, both covers with elaborated centerpiece, gilt inside filets, richly gilt compartments on spine, gilt edges, corners slightly bumped, in an allover fine condition.This type of binding, much en vogue in the middle of the 19th century, was brought to a very high standard by e.g. Simier and Thouvenin. The album contains original watercolour-paintings (a castle, a country house signed Bougat, a church), and 12 paintings in colour on mica, probably from the Cashmere area (India), of which 9 representing men and women and 3 representing birds, 8 small 18th century copper-engravings (animated interiors), original drawings, a composition of colourful silk flowers and others.
