‎ Portrait de la "Galerie contemporaine"‎

‎La "Galerie contemporaine" fut publiée par Baschet entre 1876 et 1885. Consacré aux personnalités de l'époque, chaque fascicule était illustré d'une remarquable photographie. Ces photographies étaient tirées par la maison Goupil, directement sur les négatifs originaux. Etienne Carjat (1828-1906) fut (avec Nadar) le plus célèbre photographe-portraitiste de son époque. "His portraits of celebrities such as Rossini and Baudelaire are livelier and more intimate than Nadar's and have been undeservedly overshadowed... (They) are unrivalled in any artistic field" (Gernsheim, The History of Photography). ‎
