Program. Text in German and English. The first Cannstatter-Volksfest took place on the 13th September 1886. It consisted of a grand parade, costumed riders, decorated wagons, dedication of the Fruit Column, mostly Suabian "Volksspiele" for children and adults, a brilliant illumination of the park, dancing in the afternoons and in the evenings. The brochure shows pictures of the founders, "dem Württembergischen Königspaar", of the mayor, den Dorfmusikanten, dem Fest-Comite, dem Frauen-Verein(!) mit Vereinsbanner und der ersten Fruchtsäule (fruit column). Numerous advertisements of the sponsors (mostly of German origin). Minor wear, last page and back wrapper with a tear, some creasing throughout but in all a good copy of this ephemera.
