‎First edition. Though largely devoted to agricultural economy, the work, as indicated in the title, contains thoughts on the poor and the poor laws with a chapter entitled "Of the Poor laws. Amendments proposed" and "Of Population".(For this first edition: Goldsmiths, 11249. For the second edition in the same year: Higgs 6207. Kress, 7183).A very fine copy in contemporary calf, well margined, crisp and clean. ‎

Illustrated with forty-eight coloured views, drawn by Messrs. T. H. Fielding, and J. Walton, during a two years residence among the Lakes.‎

(marg. 272 x 338 mm) Un titre avec vignette en couleur, VI pages, (1)f. et 288 pages illustré de 48 aquatintes dessinées et gravées sur cuivre par Fielding et Walton réhaussées à la main. Intérieur frais malgré de légères rousseurs au titre et p. 282 à 288 sans gravité, très légères décharges au feuillet de texte en regard de certaines planches. Maroquin rouge à long grain, dos à nerfs orné de caissons fleuronés, titre, auteur et date en pied, large roulette dorée et à froid d'encadrement sur les plats, roulette sur les coupes . Habiles restaurations aux coins et à 2 éraflures sur les plats, les charnières parfaitement refaites et le dos a été conservé, restauration à peine perceptible. Reliure de l'époque.‎


‎Première édition , tirée à 850 ex. Un des 100 exemplaires sur grand papier "Elephant paper". Papier au filigrane "1818". La première partie fut publié le Ier mai 1820 et les 11 autres qui suivèrent furent publiées chaque mois jusqu'en 1821. Superbe recueil de planches consacrées aux plus beaux lacs de la Grande Bretagne, en plein maroquin de l'époque. (First edition, large paper copy. According to Tooley issued in 100 copies, the present copy with all called-for plates present in a very attractive binding. Abbey, Scenery 192; Tooley 219.) ‎
