<p>Dans The Disappearing City, publié en 1932, Wright expose pour la première fois les grandes lignes de son fameux projet de ville de l'avenir. Dans les premiers chapitres, il présente une critique des métropoles de son époque (essentiellement New York et Chicago) à qui il reproche d’être des espaces trop denses, concentrés et anonymes. La suite est consacrée à la présentation des principes et des programmes architecturaux de sa ville idéale, « Broadacre City », ainsi dénommée car chaque famille y disposerait d’une parcelle d’une acre. Pour la première fois, l’auteur y expose ses propositions pour une Amérique agraire et largement décentralisée.</p><p>Le livre offre une passionnante analyse de la société urbaine américaine des années 1930, en même temps qu'il demeure le modèle des théories dites du «désurbanisme« et à ce titre fait figure de classique.</p> Gollion, 2013 Infolio 144 p., broché. 12 x 17

Frank Lloyd Wright (June 8, 1867 ? April 9, 1959) was an American architect, designer, writer, and educator. He designed more than 1,000 structures over a creative period of 70 years. Wright played a key role in the architectural movements of the twentieth century, influencing architects worldwide through his works and hundreds of apprentices in his Taliesin Fellowship. Wright believed in designing in harmony with humanity and the environment, a philosophy he called organic architecture. This philosophy was exemplified in Fallingwater (1935), which has been called "the best all-time work of American architecture".
