‎** Jan Yperman, a pupil of Lanfranc, became the first and great authority on surgery in the Low Countries during the 14th century. Yperman was amongst the first who wrote a medical account in vernacular. The codex was discovered by J.F. Willems in 1836 (in the rich library of Charles van Hulthem). Garrison & Morton 5555.‎
