Ann Yosy, lady traveller of the beginning of the XIXth century. First edition of this beautifully illustrated work & a fine travellers guidebook through Switzerland. Illustrated with 50 handcoloured engraved plates, partly done after the engravings of «Neue Sammlung von Schweizertrachten», by König, published in 1811 already. List of the plates as a. o.: a haymaker, haymaking girl, farmer, huntsman, milkmaid, milkman, embroiderer, mountaineer, servants, peasants, shepherds, men and women of towns and alpine regions, e.g. Zürich, Fribourg, Thun, Basle, Morat, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Soleure, etc., all in colourful traditional dress. With the engraved music-plate with the very popular hymn ‘Ranz de vaches des Ormonts’, which for one time was forbidden because of the Swiss mercenairies fighting against each other in the different armies, by hearing this song, became so homesick that they deserted. Ann Yosy lived and travelled in Switzerland from 1802 to 1813.
