2. Blackburn, G. Toulmin & Sons, '' The Times Office '', 1912, small in-4°, 24,5 cm, 114 pp, with frontispiece portrait of Haydock and some portaits and pictures further on outside the text. Loosely inserted is a double page holograph letter of the author dated August 28th 1914 to a Mr. Hunt. On the fly leaf also an autograph ex-dono of the author to Mr. and Mrs. Hunt. (9 lines). Bound in publisher's green cloth with gilt lettering. Good/fine copy though with some foxing spots. Biography of Owd Roger (1809 - 1903), a Blackburn character who was a lay preacher and a Bible Colporteur. The author lovingly describes his activities as a member of the Montague Street Primitive Methodist Church for over 60 years and his 40 years of Bible-selling on foot all over Lancashire.
