The book covers the structure of muscles, bones and other anatomical features that are crucial for creating realistic representations of the human body. Furthermore the book is also aimed at beginners in surgery. The anatomical knowledge necessary for artists is not entirely unlike what was required for medical professionals, particularly surgeons. “Johan Werner Græbe (1741 in Eisleben, Prussia - 1781, in Helsingør, Denmark). He came to Denmark around 1758. Passed the surgical examination on March 30, 1764. Passed the final surgical exam on March 20, 1766. ‎Second augmented edition.Werner Jaeger (1888-1961) is perhaps best known for his work 'Paideia' (which is Greek for 'education'/'Bildung'), an extensive consideration of both the earliest practices and later philosophical reflections on the cultural nature of education in Ancient Greece, which he hoped would restore a decadent early 20th century Europe to the values of its Hellenic origins. In 'Humanistische Reden und Vorträge' one finds a collection of essays, mostly based on lectures, in both German and English, which gives a priviledged insight into the development of one of the major exponents for an educated humanism as a counterpart to the totalitarianism and other terrors of our century. The essays bears titles such as 'Der Humanismus als Tradition und Erlebnis', 'Antike und Humanismus', 'Stat und Kultur' and 'Humanism and Theology'.‎

‎The first edition (of all three volumes) of Jaeger's seminal ""three-volume history of the Greek mind"" (his own words), which came to hugely influence the study of Greek culture and civilization as well as modern philosophy and political thought. Few other modern works within the field of classics and philology have had an impact comparable to this classic of the twentieth century.The German-born classicist Werner Wilhelm Jaeger (1888-1961) was educated at the Universities of Marburg and Berlin, and from the latter he received a Ph.D. for his dissertation on the Metaphysics of Aristotle, a work which landed him the professorship and Nietzsche's chair at the University of Basel, -without having written his Habilitationsschrift! In 1921, Jaeger settled in Berlin, which he had to leave in 1936 because of Hitler, and he immigrated to America, where he stayed for the rest of his life. Here he became professor, first at the University of Chicago, and in 1939 at Harvard University. Jaeger had written and published the first volume of his main work ""Paideia, The Idols of Greek Culture"" a couple of years before he left Germany, and in America he finished the last two volumes of this massive philosophical and political work on education, culture and the ideals that formed Greek civilization in ancient Greece. Under the name of ""Paideia"", the cultural nature of education is traced from Homer to Demosthenes in the hope of giving back the values of the ancient Greeks to 20th century Europe, which according to Jaeger was dominated by decadence and cultural decline. After the appearance of Jeager's work, the concept of ""Paideia"" became hugely influential among critics of educational systems, and the work in general has moulded the way that modern man understood the culture of the ancient Greeks as well as his own. Ces câbles lui servent à mettre au point des mines marines actionnables à distance, qu'il fait mouiller au large du port de Kiel pour tenir les navires danois à distance. Il déploiera deux courtes lignes sous-marines du même type, traversant le Rhin et le port de Kiel avec des câbles utilisant cette technologie. - (...) Allerdings fehlt eigenartiger Weise die schöne Ansicht von Freiburg in der Schweiz die wir hier anbieten und die wohl um 1730-32 verlegt wurde. ‘ Im Frühjahr 1731 trat Werner seine Rückreise (aus Italien) an. Über die Schweiz - Bern und Solothurn - reiste Werner nach Augsburg, wo er am 9 .Juli 1731 ankam - zu grosser Freud und Vergnügen meiner Herren Kunstverleger ob sogetaner grossen und schweren italienischer Reise, welche mich nach befundener Rechnung beinahe 500 fl. gekostet (hat)’. ‎Hoewel kunstenaar Werner Mannaers (? 1954) al zo'n dertig jaar actief is als schilder en tekenaar bleef de interesse van de kunstwereld tot voor kort grotendeels achterwege. Met enkele schitterende publicaties en tentoonstellingen komt daar nu in een rotvaart verandering in. Als postmodern schilder weigert hij consequent in een vakje gestopt te worden. Mannaers is bovendien het typevoorbeeld van de kunstenaar waar zijn en leven voelbaar worden in elke vezel van het canvas of papier. Als in een dagboek verwerkt hij de emoties en tribulaties van de dag in zijn tekeningen. Uitgediept en uitgepuurd vinden die dan een weg in zijn schilderijen. ‎"« Masques et Théâtre » est un dialogue entre, d’une part, les masques du créateur Werner Strub (1935-2012) et, d’autre part, les trésors du patrimoine théâtral de l’Antiquité à nos jours que recèle la Fondation Martin Bodmer. Aux incunables (premières éditions des tragédies grecques), aux éditions originales rares de Shakespeare, Corneille ou Molière, aux livres d’art illustrés (Odipe roi ou Antigone par Hans Erni) et aux manuscrits autographes (de Büchner ou de Musset) issus de la collection de la Fondation répondent les créations de Werner Strub qui, loin de se limiter au théâtre, a transformé l’objet « masque » en outil de recherche.
