A first edition of this lithographic cut-out book. There is a crease to Crusoe's head, where the book has been bent. There is also an archival repair to the binding, where there has been a split in the back cover. The binding has been re-inforced to the inside covers. The inside of the book is slightly foxed, but overall is in good condition. Published in Boston. An early example of an American cut-out book. 28 vignette sized coloured lithographs on 16 pages. (Plus the two covers). Louis Prang was a German emigre, who had emigrated to the United States after persecution by the Prussian government for his role in the Revolutions of 1848. Once in Boston, he produced a series of die cut children's books, including this one. 160 by 60mm (6Πby 2Πinches). .
