‎Rare first edition of Turner's work on double-entry bookkeeping constituting one of the earliest work on bookkeeping printed in America (The earliest being from 1789)""It is singular that this little work should have been suffered to sink into oblivion. It contains much new and useful information"" it is written with clearness and precision, and better adapted to the purposs of instruction than any similar work which have appeared in the United States since 1800. The modern practice of double entry is clearly exemplified by Turner, and a very trifling revision would render [the present work] one of best elementary treatises on merchants accounts extant"" (Foster, The Origin and Progress of Book-keeping).‎

‎Édition originale posthume illustrée de 4 planches lithographiées dont deux repliées et le frontispice. Précieux témoignage du révérend Baker mort du choléra peu avant la publication de ce compte-rendu des trois premiers mois de la deuxième guerre anglo-birmane, déclarée après la prise du port de Martaban et l'occupation de Rangoun par les Britanniques en avril 1852 - deuxième guerre qui aboutit à l'annexion de l'ensemble de la Basse-Birmanie, soit la capitale Rangoun, le delta de l'Irrawaddy et la région de Pegu, privant ainsi le pays d'un accès à la mer et obligeant la cour birmane à se réfugier dans la ville de Mandalay plus au nord.Ex-libris manuscrit. Dos passé sinon très bon exemplaire conservé dans sa première reliure signée J. Dean avec son étiquette.Abbey, Travel, 407; Cordier, Indosinica, 455. ‎
