The author is severely critical about one of the central issues of the Economistes: their idea of reducing all taxes to one single tax. He reviews Des Galannières' Plan d'Imposition, which reasons along those lines, and takes it as point of departure for his criticisms and to present his alternative proposals: to exempt the land from taxation and to replace this tax by a progressive tax on consumption and revenues.The last page contains the errata. - Small stain in outer margin of frontispiece, offsetting onto title-page.
