In-8 p., bella legatura in tela editoriale, ricche decorazioni in oro e a colori al piatto anteriore e al dorso, taglio sup. dorato, pp. XIV,(2),260,(2),(6, pubblicit), con una sketch map di Burma (Myanmar) pi volte ripieg., alla fine del volume. L'opera ben illustrata da 75 tavv. a colori f.t., protette da velina con didascalia, che raffigurano costumi, paesaggi, villaggi sul fiume, etc. "Prima edizione" di questa interessante opera scritta da Robert George Talbot Kelly (1861-1934), britannique. Peintre de genre, paysages, aquarelliste. Orientaliste. Il tait membre du Royal Institute of Painters in Water-Colour, et de la Royal British Academy (cfr. Benezit,VII, p. 749). Dalla prefazione: It was with extreme diffidence that I ventured to undertake the production of a volume upon Burma. I had never been in the country, and possessed only the most superficial knowledge of its history or geography, and I foresaw that the task would prove an exacting one.. The difficulties under which I worked were great: fatiguing journeys through forest and jungle, climatic conditions most unkind to the painter, difficulties of language and health, and, supremest difficulty of all, that of rightly appraising a strange country and a strange people.Fioriture intercalate nel testo, ma certamente un bell'esemplare.
