‎ Fotograaf en bloedbroeder Danny Willems laat in honderden beelden de ware Arno zien 'We hadden geen woorden nodig.' (ARNO) Danny Willems stond vijftig jaar (!) aan Arno's zijde als fotograaf en als vriend. Niet voor niets werd hij het zesde lid van T.C. Matig. Hij maakte talloze foto's van Arno, vanaf de tijd van zijn eerste band, Freckleface, tot zijn allerlaatste solo-optreden. Dit boek presenteert een grote selectie uit zijn archief, waaronder veel afbeeldingen die voor het eerst worden gepubliceerd. Danny Willems: 'Arno was een vrije geest. Hij leefde voor het moment en voor het plezier, de muziek en de vrouwen. Hij was een eenling, iemand die wist wat hij wilde: muzikant worden, een rockster, zoals de artiesten in de NME. Arno intrigeerde mij. Hij was een verlegen excentriekeling die meestal ergens in de hoek van de kroeg te vinden was. Maar op het podium transformeerde hij van een stotteraar in een entertainer. Het was fascinerend om naar te kijken. Wat we gemeen hadden was dat we allebei onze eigen weg moesten vinden. Niets was uitgestippeld, alles was nieuw. Ik heb het grafische ontwerp verzorgd voor Tjens Couter en T.C. Matic ging briefvellen kopen voor de platenhoezen en hield mijn ogen open op de grafische afdeling van de fotostudio. Een jaar nadat Arno naar Brussel verhuisde, volgde ik hem daarheen. Het was een ongelooflijke periode: de hele wereld ging voor ons open en de wind zat in onze zeilen. Alles wat we altijd al wilden, was plotseling mogelijk. Het was ons gelukt.' Gelijktijdig met de publicatie van het boek presenteert Danny Willems de gelijknamige tentoonstelling in de Venetiaanse Gaanderijen in Oostende, die loopt van 16 december 2023 tot voorjaar 2024.
