The Duenna was the third comedy by Sheridan performed at Covent Garden in 1775, preceded by The Rivals and St. Patrick's Day. With music by his father-in-law ; Thomas Linley, the """"comic opera '' The Duenna was represented at Covent Garden on 21 Nov. 1775 and on seventy-four other nights during the season, a success which was then unprecedented"""" (DNB).
