‎L'oeuvre est considérée comme le premier roman de moeurs bourgeoises et sa forme épistolaire fut imitée par Rousseau, Goethe et Foscolo. Carlo Goldoni s'en inspira pour 2 de ses comédies. Beaux exemplaires.‎
