On the title page of volume II Prigogine deletes his scientific title and changes it to ''Agrégé de l'enseignement supérieur''. (university professor). Well preserved proof copy , corrected by the hand of the author, of the first major work on chemical thermodynamics by the Russian born Belgian scientist Ilya Prigogine (Moscou 1917 - Brussels 2003) He received the Nobelprize of Chemistry in 1977 for his work in this field.Unique copy documenting the important Belgian-Jewish contribution to the exact sciences in the 20th c."

This is the copy of co-author Raymond Defay with his rubber namestamp and his autograph. Inserted is a 3 page correction of the calculations of pp 405 ( athermal solutions - size of molecules). Accoring the autograph note the correction was handed to him by Aurélie Bellemans (Von Karmann Institute, ULB Brussels)..
