Chéri HEROUARD (Rocroi 1881-1961 Paris) s'initie très tôt au dessin de presse (La Baïonnette, Le Sourire, Fantasio) et est remarqué pour sa verve dans le Journal de la Jeunesse, dès 1904, puis comme collaborateur de Charles Saglio dans cette revue et enfin dans la Vie Parisienne dont il devient l'une des vedettes dès 1907. Cette aquarelle montre le sens de la composition de l'artiste, du détail et son goût pour représenter fidèlement la mode d'époque. Dessin pour Manon Lescaut, ouvrage qu'il publia à l'Édition Moderne. Infimes piqures.

Coulet, 'Le Roman jusqu'à la Révolution'). "Sans doute, avec Manon Lescaut, luvre de Prévost qui reste la plus proche de nous. Ce bref roman relate, comme Manon, limpossible amour dun noble et dune fille dorigine douteuse ; et comme Manon, il fait naître dun récit torturé limage dune héroïne fascinante et insaisissable (). En jouant sur des ambiguïtés et les incertitudes de la mémoire, Prévost multiplie les moyens du récit romanesque et crée les labyrinthes du roman moderne" (J. Remise en vente de l'édition originale (Amsterdam, François Desbordes, 1740) à la date de 1741.L'Histoire d'une Grecque moderne, « un roman qui mérite pour lui-même d'être signalé, et qui n'est nullement indigne de la production de l'auteur » (André Mirambe), appartient à la « seconde période » de la production de Prévost, rédigée en exil à Bruxelles et Francfort. Comme Manon Lescaut, « Prévost fait de la narration à la première personne l'un des agents inhérents à la substance dramatique : les deux romans sont des drames de la non-communication dans la mesure où les motivations intérieures de l'être aimé demeurent à jamais impénétrables ».
