A sammelband containing three of Preston’s works. John Preston (1587-1628) was an English clergyman and theologian who is best known for his role in the early 17th century Puritan movement. He was a priest in the Church of England and a prominent preacher during the reign of King James I. Preston was known for his influential sermons and writings, which emphasized the need for personal piety and holiness in the Christian life. He was a strong advocate of Reformed theology and played a significant role in the development of Puritan thought. One of his most famous works is ""The New Covenant, or the Saints' Portion,"" which is a devotional treatise that expounds on the believer's relationship with God and the blessings of the New Covenant. In this work, he stressed the importance of faith, obedience, and a deep, heartfelt relationship with God. John Preston's preaching and writings had a lasting impact on the Puritan movement and the development of Reformed theology in England. He died at a relatively young age, but his work continued to influence later generations of theologians and pastors.
