First issue in Dutch of the Editio altera. "The Edition altera of 1871 heralded a new era in which the pharmacopoeia primarily contained quality demands, to be met by raw materials and medicines. Now that the examinations were made heavier going and the training had been improved, the pharmacopoeia did not need to function as a textbook any longer" (A.I. Bierman, "Van artsenijmengkunde naar artsenijbereidkunde", p. 256).--(With the stamp of F.G. Gantzert on title page & p. iv; some scattered light foxing).
