‎Summary The product of an international interdisciplinary team, the History and Structures strand of the Pre-Christian Religion of the North series aims to approach the subject by giving equal weight to archaeological and textual sources, taking into consideration recent theories on religion within all the disciplines that are needed in order to gain a comprehensive view of the religious history and world view of pre-Christian Scandinavia from the perspective of the beginning of the twenty-first century. Volume I presents the basic premises of the study and a consideration of the sources: memory and oral tradition, written sources, religious vocabulary, place names and personal names, archaeology, and images. Volume II treats the social, geographical, and historical contexts in which the religion was practiced and through which it can be understood. This volume also includes communication between worlds, primarily through various ritual structures. Volume III explores conceptual frameworks: the cosmos and collective supernatural beings (notions regarding the cosmos and regarding such collective supernatural beings as the norns, valkyries, giants, and dwarfs) and also gods and goddesses (including Þórr, Óðinn, Freyr, Freyja, and many others). ‎Jens Peter Jacobsen ou J. P. Jacobsen (7 avril 1847 30 avril 1885) est un écrivain, poète et botaniste danois. " Marie Grubbe est le premier roman naturaliste danois de grande envergure..." "Sa première uvre publiée est la nouvelle Mogens, en 1872. Elle sera suivie en 1876 d'un roman historique, Madame Marie Grubbe, situé au XVIIè siècle. Il raconte la vie d'un personnage réel, fille d'un membre de la petite aristocratie danoise, qui épouse le fils bâtard du roi, mais qui divorce et se lie avec des hommes situés de plus en plus bas dans l'échelle sociale afin d'achever sa libération personnelle et sexuelle. Le roman constitue une étude psychologique remarquable d'un personnage féminin et a été largement traduit, y compris en français. Il est d'ailleurs salué comme une étape majeure dans le développement de la littérature scandinave, entre autres par le critique Georg Brandes, autant pour son sujet que pour son style très recherché et personnel ". ‎Edition tirée à 3400 exemplaires, un des 3000 sur vélin d'Arches, orné d'un burin original de DECARIS. Préface de jacques de Lacretelle. Ce roman danois (188) avait paru en français en 1928 sous la titre "Entre la vie et le rêve". Il est traduit à nouveau ici par Sten Byelke et Sébastien Voirol. Jacobsen a écrit quelques nouvelles et deux grands romans, dont celui-ci dans lequel on retrouve les préoccupations de l'auteur pour les théories de Darwin (dont il avait traduit "L'origine des espèces") et ses interrogations théologiques qui le poussent vers l'anticléricalisme. ‎
