‎<meta charset="utf-8"><span data-mce-fragment="1">Delacroix disait: «il faut un cœur d’acier pour terminer un tableau.» Il ne s’agit pas simplement de transmettre la vision de ce que l’on a dans la tête, car dans l’abstraction il n’y a pas de sujet, on s’appuie sur des notions étranges, couleurs, formes, espaces, mais à un moment donné la chose vous quitte, parce que la chose est plus forte que nous. Picasso le disait parfaitement: «la peinture est plus forte que moi: elle me fait faire ce qu’elle veut.»</span><br class="autobr" data-mce-fragment="1"><span data-mce-fragment="1">Le pastel est doute, et moi je veux garder ce doute, parce que le doute est l’humain. La peinture ne sert pas à grand-chose, si n’est peut-être à poser des questions. Et la grande question pour moi aujourd’hui est celle de la forme. Bernard Noël, peu avant de mourir, m’a écrit, en novembre 2020, une très jolie lettre, une lettre dans laquelle il écrit à propos de mes pastels une phrase de peintre: «C’est la forme qui interroge, comme parcourue par un message qui tressaille en elle.» Ce qui m’intéresse, c’est la tension entre la forme et l’espace. La peinture est un grand mystère, on essaie de faire revivre une forme qu’on a vue par exemple chez Georges de la Tour ou Mondrian. Quand ils peignaient, ils étaient dans la forme, ils la délimitaient par un jeu de tensions, et je m’en souviens aujourd’hui dans mes tableaux abstraits où j’augmente ou diminue l’intensité et la densité de la couleur en fonction de la distance ou pas qui se crée entre une teinte et sa voisine, en laissant maintenant de plus en plus de blanc, de respiration entre chaque forme, pour être moins sage.
