Small owner's stamp on the front wrapper and title page, otherwise a good copy of this scarce work.The entomologist (lepidopterologist) Arnold Andreas Friedrich Pagenstecher (1837-1913) is best known for his work on the Papilionidae of the Malay Archipelago. This late work may be regarded as a summary of his zoogeographical knowledge as it discusses the different faunas with their geographic/meteorological characteristics and lists of typical genera and species. The maps show the world with faunal areas, and the Malay Archipelago (which he knew most).
