1909 ix, 451 p., 2 maps, paperbound (original printed covers). The entomologist (lepidopterologist) Arnold Andreas Friedrich Pagenstecher (1837-1913) is best known for his work on the Papilionidae of the Malay Archipelago. This late work may be regarded as a summary of his zoogeographical knowledge as it discusses the different faunas with their geographic/meteorological characteristics and lists of typical genera and species. The maps show the world with faunal areas, and the Malay Archipelago (which he knew most). Small owner's stamp on the front wrapper and title page, otherwise a good copy of this scarce work.
