London, Macmillan & Co., 1892. Small 8vo. (15,4 x 10 cm.). Bound in nice full red morocco. Raised bands. Compartments richly gilt with flowers. Bands gilt. All edges gilt. Broad inside gilt borders with cornerpieces. Edges of covers gilt. Signed in gold: ""J. & E. Bumpus. L.2 Oxford St. W."" Fine condition.
Bumpus of Oxford St., a London department store that sold books, was known for classically designed, well-executed, and generally undervalued bindings produced under the Bumpus name for a substantial period, beginning in the latter part of the 19th century.
