1887 104 p., 3 plates and one leaf of "Stellingen" (propositions), small folio, original blind tooled cloth with gilt title on front board and gilt ornament on rear board. Library stamps in the lower margin of half title, title page blank verso and first text page. Spine taped (upper half of spine missing), otherwise a good copy with clean plates. Scarce.Thesis of this eminent Dutch entomologist. In this work Oudemans puts forth the proposition that Thysanura and Collembola belong to an order different from the Orthoptera. He also suggests that in the cell the "nucleine (chromatine)" is the carrier of heriditary information, and that conodonts are the teeth of annelids. Otherwise a very good copy with clean plates. Scarce.
