Les historiens d’art ont pu constater que Richard Parkes Bonington avait influencé toute une génération d’artistes et de critiques. Mais, si ses peintures de paysages soutiennent la comparaison avec celles de Turner et de Constable, elles ne lui ont pas valu pour autant la même gloire auprès du grand public. Nous espérons que cette exposition et ce catalogue apporteront bien des révélations agréables et stimulantes sur un artiste de grande envergure, injustement négligé jusqu’à présent.
