Conseil sur la creation d'un port de yachts au Touquet Paris-Plage
Bruxelles / La Haye G.P. Nijhoff 1927 Première édition. Deux volumes et un volume de planches (trois volumes au total). Reliure en plein cuir, avec titres dorés. Quelques décolorations et quelques frottements aux dos, mais dans l'ensemble en très bon état. Rare documentation architecturale privée sur l'aménagement d'un port de plaisance au Touquet Paris-Plage, vraisemblablement publiée à quelques exemplaires seulement. Impression privée en 1927 et 1928. Jolies dentelles à l'intérieur des planches. Papiers de fin marbrés. Les titres portent le cachet d'un bureau ou d'une bibliothèque en néerlandais. Le premier volume contient 45 pages de texte photocopié / imprimé, avec quelques annotations / ajouts à la main. Paraphé C.M. décembre 1927 à la dernière page. Texte en français. Les planches 4 à 8 sont reliées et dépliantes, colorées à la main. La première planche (une carte imprimée de la région avec des détails colorés à la main) se trouve dans une pochette à l'arrière de l'ouvrage. Les planches 2 et 3 se trouvent également dans cette pochette. Il s'agit de grandes planches colorées à la main. Il y a également une série de trois pages de prix / comptes au crayon sur du papier millimétré. Le volume deux est daté de 1928 sur la couverture. Il comporte une belle photographie en noir et blanc d'un yacht imprimée en frontispice (non numérotée). Ce volume comporte 80 pages de texte, ainsi que les planches 7, 22, 23, 1, 2, 14, 15 et 24, reliées dans l'ordre suivant. Le troisième volume contient des planches dépliantes en couleur. Elles sont numérotées 1, 2, 3 (non colorées), 3 (colorées), 4-16, 18-21. Il semblerait que la planche 17 soit manquante, mais comme il n'y a pas de liste des planches, il est difficile de le savoir. Au total, il y a 30 plans dépliants en couleurs (sur 30 mais avec un manquant et un double) et de nombreuses planches, dont une photographie originale. Petite ville située sur la côte nord de la France, dans le département du Pas-de-Calais., L'histoire du Touquet-Paris-Plage commence en 1837 lorsque Alphonse Daloz, notaire parisien, achète un domaine dunaire sauvage et commence à planter des pins maritimes pour fixer le sable, créant ainsi une vaste forêt. Inspiré par son ami Hippolyte de Villemessant, fondateur du journal Le Figaro, Daloz est encouragé à transformer la zone en station balnéaire. Le lotissement "Paris-Plage" est officiellement inauguré en 1882, destiné à devenir un lieu de villégiature pour les Parisiens. En 1912, sous l'impulsion de l'entrepreneur anglais Sir John Whitley, le quartier est officiellement créé sous le nom de Touquet-Paris-Plage, devenant une station balnéaire de luxe prisée par la haute société parisienne, l'aristocratie anglaise et les célébrités de la Belle Époque.
First edition. Two volumes and a plate volume (total three volumes). Full leather binding, with gilt titles. Some fading and a little rubbing to the spines, but overall in very good condition. Rare, privately printed architectural documentation on the planning of a yacht harbour in Touquet Paris-Plage, presumably published in only a few copies. Privately printed in 1927 & 1928. Attractive dentelles to the inside boards. Marbled end papers. The titles have stamps for an office / library in Dutch. Volume one contains 45 pages of photocopied / printed text, with a few annotations / additions by hand. Initialled C.M. December 1927 to the final page. Text in French. Bound in are hand coloured, folding plates 4-8, in a pocket to the rear is plate one (a printed map of the area with hand coloured details). Plates two and three are also in this pocket. These are large, hand coloured plates. There is also a three page set of prices / accounts in pencil on graph paper. Volume two is dates 1928 to the front cover. This has an attractive black and white photograph of a yacht printed as a frontis (unnumbered). This volume has 80 pages of text, It also has, bound in, in the following order, plates 7, 22, 23, 1, 2, 14, 15 & 24. Volume three contains loose folding coloured plates. These are numbered 1, 2, 3 (uncoloured), 3 (coloured), 4-16, 18-21. It would seem that plate 17 is missing, but as there is no list of plates, it is difficult to know. With In total there are 30 colour folding plans (of 30 but with one lacking and one duplicate) and numerous plates, including 1 original photograph. 34cm x 21.5cm. A small town on the Northern French coast in the Pas-de-Calais department, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage's history begins in 1837 when Alphonse Daloz, a Parisian notary, purchased a wild domain of dunes and started planting maritime pines to fix the sand, creating a vast forest. Inspired by his friend Hippolyte de Villemessant, founder of the newspaper Le Figaro, Daloz was encouraged to turn the area into a seaside resort. The "Paris-Plage" subdivision was officially inaugurated in 1882, intended as a vacation place for Parisians. By 1912, under English entrepreneur Sir John Whitley, the area was officially created as Touquet-Paris-Plage, becoming a luxury resort popular with the Parisian high society, English aristocracy, and celebrities during the Belle Époque. .
