ESTC N474309. Our copy lacks the title and the last pages 329-335.. We think it a pity to split up this collection formed immediately upon publication of these trials. The book shows no provenance marking except for a name ''P. Parston'', perhaps not contemporary, written in the corner of the first fly leaf.

Nice set of the internal rules of the Jesuit-Order kept up to date during the 19th century by the Jesuits of the Collegium St. Barbara (Ghent), with their ex-libris. These guidelines, for internal use only, are rare and printed in small editions only. This Prague edition divised a classification of rules which subsequently became the generally accepted structure. (DBS vol. III col. 1443. 30) Here was the printer Sassier, equally in the rue S. Jacques. USTC lists 2 copies (Item 6010062). It appears to be the oldest Paris edition preceded by a Douai and a Verdun edition ; both of 1596 and equally very rare."

The rules of the Jesuit order as they were reworked at the 14th general congress of 1696. This 1702 edition is the first to be printed or published outside Antwerp.(see De Backer-Sommervogel)."

Title pageis a woodcut with a portrait of Saint Ignatius, pp (14) is blank , pp(303 -304) are also blank, pp. (302,303,304) are unnumbered. Collation : a1-7;A-V1-8. Bound in half vellum, boards covered with marbled paper, edges marbled. With a small oval stamp on the first fly-leaf ''Domus Lugdunensis Soc. Iesu'' ( 19th c.) Fine copy. The book seems to be complete, however the copies listed in USTC have more preliminary pages. Our copy has the last page blank of the preliminary pages (a7verso). The index ends on page (a7recto) with an item on Pope Paulus VI ( pp 305 and following). We have no explanation as to why our copy differs from the USTC copies. The missing or unprinted pages might have been intentionally changed at publication (?)."
