‎Quatrième édition de cet ouvrage de référence, illustrée de 248 jolies planches en couleurs représentant des oeufs et des nids. L'entomologiste et ornithologue irlandais Francis Orpen Morris (1810-1893) a décrit la composition et les particularités des oeufs et des nids de centaines d'oiseaux, y compris de certaines espèces aujourd'hui éteintes comme le Grand Pingouin ou la tourte voyageuse. Bon exemplaire dans sa reliure éditeur ornée d'un nid doré. Légers frottements, petites rousseurs éparses.- Ex-libris armorié de William Rhodes Emmott.‎

Seconda edizione di questo voluminous work of general nature, containing a mass of information.. The plates, which are handcolored, are fairly good, and the book early obtained considerable popularity on account of its readability and moderate cost. Second (first revised) edition. The first edition appeared in 1851-57, in monthly parts (Zimmer, Catalogue of the E.E. Ayer ornithological library, p.II, p. 443). Testo e tavole ben conservati.‎
