‎First publication of the highly influential Mealy machine: a finite-state machine whose output values are determined both by its current state and by the values of its inputs. Mealy machines are useful to describe how an output is associated with the transition. A full-adder changes state to reflect the carry-in and outputs the sum as the transition takes place. Vending machines can be set up as Mealy machines.Other papers of interest contained in the present volume: 1.
