A Amsterdam, chez Louys Elzevier, 1648. 31 x 21 cm, 3 ff. et 547 pp. Avec une page de titre gravée et 70 planches dépliantes sur double page. Relié plein veau d'époque, dos à nerfs, caissons ornés, titre doré (partiellement passé). Un mors fragilisé mais reliure encore solide, coins émoussés sinon bon exemplaire. Une planche avec un manque marginale, des rousseurs et des mouillures légères marginales sinon bon état. Ancien tampon de la Bibliothèque de la Ville d'Arlon. Première édition en français, traduction par Helie Poirier de l'édition originale latine de 1647 publiée chez le même imprimeur. Cet ouvrage sur l'architecture militaire hollandaise est unique en son temps pour les plans précis des villes fortifiées existantes et pour l'attention portée au métré. Le beau titre gravé montre des géomètres au travail avec une forteresse à l'arrière-plan. Upper part of spine and block a bit compressed due to shrinking of spine-vellum. The engraved title depicting the author showing a geometrical drawing to William Prince of Orange. Engraved title. (6),475 pp. and 70 double-page engraved plates. Margin of title with old owners name. A small rubberstamp on title. A few leaves and a few plates with rather faint dampstaining, a few plates with small marginal tears (no loss of image) and 2 plates a bit soiled. 4 plates loose.
