Grudlegendes Werk über die sog. 'plutonische' (als Gegenteil zur sog. 'neptunischen') Theorie der Gesteineentstehung. "While neptunist subsidence earthquakes were recognized as merely local phenomena and lost their unjustified predominance due to the refutation of neptunism, a non-neptunist version of subsidence earthquakes was created. A similar non-neptunist subsidence hypothesis was defended by the Austrian field marshall lieutenant Count FRANZ MARENZI. In his opinion the caves leading to such collapses occurred because of the unequal contraction of different masses during the reduction in temperature of the earth. The collapse of such caves leads to earthquakes and sea quakes in cases where it occurs under the bottom of the sea" (Google-Archiv).
