Petit in-8 (102 x 168 mm), veau marron, dos à nerfs orné, dentelle autour des plats, motif à froid au centre, roulette sur les coupes et intérieure, tranches dorées (reliure signée Thouvenin, charnières restaurées). Première édition aldine, imprimée par le plus jeune des fils Alde. // Small 8o (102 x 168 mm), brown calf, spine tooled in gilt with raised bands, dentelle border on covers, central pattern tooled in blind, gilt roll on turns-in and inside, gitl edges (binding signed Thouvenin, hinges restored). First aldin edition, printed by the youngest of Alde brothers.

(yy); da c. 169 alla fine Pauli Manutii Praefationes; al frontespizio e al verso dell'ultima carta xilografata l'ancora aldina. Cfr. Renouard,12, p. 180: Avec la prface de l'dition prcdente, de 1558. Celle-ci est plus ample, et successivement on verra les diverses rimpressions s'enrichir de nouvelles lettres et prfaces.Frontesp. con antico restauro per mancanza al margine infer.; corto del margine super.; con qualche lieve alone ma certamente un buon esemplare.

Rousseurs. Complet en soi, mais sans la première partie, Liber de legibus. Second traité sur la Rome antique de Paul Manuce (1512-1574), consacré au Sénat, qui fut publié pour la première fois à Venise après sa mort en 1581 par son fils, Aldus le Jeune. Seul le premier traité, De Legibus, dédié au droit romain antique, parut de son vivant en 1557. La publication des deux derniers, De Comitis et De Civitate romana, suivit en 1585. Adams M-480.

Still a fine copy. The text is sometimes in 2 columns, printed in roman and italic with occasional Greek quotations The engrav. title bears the inscription; ""Romanarum antiquitatum corpus absolutissimum cum notis doctissimis Thomae Dempsteri I.C. et oeneis figuris accuratissimis."" Johann Roszfeld, 1551- 1626, a Lutheran preacher from Saxony. This first compilation of Roman ""antiquities"" (religion, law, literature, customs) was first published at Basel in 1583; Thomas Dempster, 1579? - 1625, a Scotsman, expanded it.
