Fotomechanische herdruk van een unieke Antwerpse incunabel, een Nederlandstalige verklaring van de Katholieke mis. In deel II is de tekst nogmaals, nu in moderne druk en met woordverklaringen achterin, opgenomen om de lectuur van de facsimile-uitgave te vergemakkelijken. Voorts zijn in deel II enige beschouwingen opgenomen over de 15e eeuwse Antwerpse drukkunst en de plaats van het Boexken in de liturgie- en vroomheidsgeschiedenis. Dit erudiete proefschrift werd door de vakpers unaniem geprezen als een uiterst zorgvuldige en zeer leesbare reconstructie van een vrijwel onbekend facet van de negentiende-eeuwse letterkunde in Vlaanderen: de fascinatie die op tal van schrijvers uitging van de contemporaine Nederduitse literatuur, met name van haar boegbeeld Klaus Groth. Zowel de jonge Pol de Mont als de debuterende schrijfsters Rosalie en Virginie Loveling schoolden zich aan hem, maar ook Gezelle was in diverse fasen van zijn leven getroffen door een dialectliteratuur die gelijke doelstellingen nastreefde als de herlevende Vlaamse literatuur. Nog maar weinigen zullen weten dat Benoits mooiste lied, Mijn Moederspraak, dat zowel door Gezelle als door Julius Sabbe in het Nederlands werd vertaald, oorspronkelijk gecomponeerd werd op een Nederduitse tekst van Klaus Groth en dat de creatie in 1889 in Antwerpen plaatsvond n.a.v. de tachtigste verjaardag van de dichter. Zowel voor de studie van de Vlaamse Beweging als voor de positiebepaling van de 19de-eeuwse Vlaamse letterkunde in een comparatistisch perspectief is dit een onmisbaar werkstuk. Met een opdracht,
