‎Summary The Revelation of Jesus Christ, better known as the Apocalypse of John, or simply the Book of Revelation, has always fascinated its readers, both religious and non-religious. Its transmission and reception in a Christian context have given rise to a wide variety of interpretations and controversies. At the heart of this revelation are the enigmatic figures of a pregnant woman appearing in heaven and then fleeing into the desert, a prostitute appearing in the desert and riding a beast, and then the bride of the Lamb, as well as a great city called Babylon, Sodom, and Egypt. Cities, beast, and prostitute are usually interpreted as thinly veiled references to Rome and its empire, and in particular to the emperor Nero. However, this reading raises a number of interpretative problems concerning the relationship between these different female figures and their relation to the beast, which duplicates into a beast from the sea and a beast from the land, and concerning the city that lies beneath Babylon. Although they do not all share the exact same point of view on the Apocalypse of John and on the solutions to these interpretative problems, the contributions gathered in this volume all question the received ideas in one way or another. What they have in common is a regard for the Apocalypse of John as a text strongly rooted in the Judaism of its time, and they place great emphasis on interpreting the text through attention to its author's use of the Jewish Scriptures. ‎The volume traces the life and career of Mahler from his birth to his appointment to the Vienna Hofoper. This long awaited revised volume I completes Henry-Louis de La Grange's four-volume English language biography of the Austrian composer Gustav Mahler (1860?1911), which is widely considered to be the definitive work on the subject. The present instalment, covering the years 1860 to 1897, traces the life and career of Mahler from his birth in a small village in Bohemia to his appointment to the Vienna Hofoper, then the most prestigious opera house in the world. It describes his family background, his student days at the Vienna Conservatory, his private life, and his burgeoning career as both conductor and composer. Starting at a small summer theatre in Bad Hall, his first engagements took him to Laibach (Ljubljana), Olm tz (Olomouc), Kassel, Prague, and Leipzig, before he was appointed to principal posts at the important opera houses of Budapest (1888) and Hamburg (1891). By now Mahler had also begun to establish himself as a composer. Some of his major works ? starting with Das Klagende Lied (1881) ? the early Wunderhorn songs, Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen , and the first three symphonies date from this period of his life. While regularly rejected by contemporary critics, today they are favourites of the concert repertoire. Il s'agit d'un recueil d'arrêts de Messieurs Louet, Brodeau, Bouguier, le Prestre, Monthelon, Robert et Du Fresne. Une importante table des matières à la fin de l'ouvrage en rend la consultation aisée.Louis Angran (1622-1706), issu d'une importante famille de magistrats proche de Port-Royal, et qui entretenait quelque relation de parenté avec les Arnauld, fut élevé aux petites écoles de Port-Royal. Licencié en théologie de la Sorbonne (1645), et chanoine de Troyes, Angran fit partie en 1653 de la députation janséniste partie à Rome pour plaider la cause de l'Augustinus. À son retour, il renonça à son bénéfice, devint conseiller au parlement de Metz en 1660 et se maria. Geen enkel taboe ging hij uit de weg. Boordevol naaktfoto's van Hollandse, Deense, Zweedse, Schotse, Erembodegemse, e.a. meisjes. Boon tilt de studie van het naakt op tot pseudo-wetenschap (tot en met een classificatie) en weet er nog zinnige en zinnelijke zinnen aan te wijden ook. Die revolutie heeft filmmakers gebracht tot nieuwe stijlen en genres en de toeschouwer tot een heel andere perceptie. Marianne Thys heeft bijdragen geleverd aan diverse publicaties over de geschiedenis van de Belgische film. Ze voerde het onderzoek en verzorgde de samenstelling van De Belgische Film, uitgegeven in 2000 door het Koninklijk Belgisch Filmarchief en Ludion. In het kader van het eeuwfeest van de film schreef ze samen met Eric de Kuyper Alfred Machin, cineaste (Koninklijk Belgisch Filmarchief). Marianne Thys werkt als eindredacteur voor diverse uitgeverijen van kunstboeken. Jean-Louis Comolli leidde aanvankelijk een filmclub in Alger. Later schreef hij bijdragen voor Cahiers du cinema, waarvan hij tussen 1965 en 1973 hoofdredacteur was. Hij was docent aan de Universite de Paris VIII, aan de filmschool Femis en aan de Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Grenoble, schreef voor Jazz Magazine en Images documentaires en bouwde tegelijkertijd een carriere uit als filmregisseur.
