‎First apperance of Lewis' first paper on relativity in which he derived the mass-energy relationship in a different way from Albert Einstein's derivation.Lewis’ other theoretical interests also flourished at M.I.T. The publication of Einstein’s theory of relativity (1905) and his mass-energy equation renewed Lewis’ interest in his early speculations on radiation. He derived the mass-energy equation from his early idea of the pressure of light without using the principle of relativity (1908). This striking concurrence of his view with Einstein’s convinced Lewis of the value of his youthful ideas and made him one of the very few early supporters of Einstein and relativity in America. Lewis is best known for his discovery of the covalent bond in chemistry. and his naming of the ""photon"" in 1926.The volume contains further importent papers by Rutherford & Royds, Lord Kelvin, Barkla, Soddy, J.J. Thomson, W.H. Bragg.‎

‎Devenu l'un des auteurs emblématiques de la "nouvelle bande dessinée" , et avec plus de 160 livres à son actif, Lewis Trondheim s'est essayé à tous les genres. Il est aussi membre fondateur de l'Oubapo (Ouvroir de bande dessinée potentielle), cofondateur de l'Association, et dirige la collection "Shampooing" aux éditions Delcourt. Il a contribué à la création du SNAC BD (syndicat des auteurs de bande dessinée) et a inventé le "Fauve" devenu la mascotte du festival d'Angoulême, manifestation qui l'a couronné de son Grand Prix en 2006. Cette carrière d'une richesse remarquable le place au carrefour de toutes les évolutions récentes de la bande dessinée. D'habitude peu enclin aux interviews et aux apparitions médiatiques, Lewis Trondheim s'est cette fois longuement entretenu avec Thierry Groensteen, théoricien et historien de la bande dessinée, et ami de longue date. Le texte qui en résulte éclaire non seulement un parcours artistique aux avant-postes de la création contemporaine, mais également une personnalité intègre, un esprit agile et inquiet, un tempérament joueur. Ce recueil d'entretiens, illustré de nombreux documents rares ou inédits fait le bilan - provisoire - d'une carrière étonnamment féconde. Enrichi du témoignage d'une dizaine de proches de Lewis, cet ouvrage a été publié à l'occasion de l'exposition rétrospective "Lewis Trondheim fait des histoires" présentée au musée de la Bande dessinée d'Angoulême en 2020. ‎

La partie médaille est dorée et attire vraiment le regard. Signée et dédicacée à l'encre par John Lewis Brown, avec une dédicace à Son Altesse Royale Madame la duchesse de Berry. Sous l'image de la médaille, on peut lire : « John Lewis Brown inv. », ce qui signifie « invenit », c'est-à-dire « il l'a conçue/composée ». En très bon état. Serait du plus bel effet encadrée. Verso vierge. 395 x 275 mm‎

The medal part is finished in gilt, and is quite striking. Signed and inscribed in ink by John Lewis Brown, with a printed dedication to S.A.R. Madame, Duchesse de Berry. Under the medal's image it say: "John Lewis Brown inv." which means invenit, i.e. "he designed/composed it."In very good condition. Would look great framed.
