The first chapter considers the years 1535-1540, focusing on his collaborations with Henri Goigues and Piere Malet and the painting, 'Couronnement de la Vierge'; then 1540-1550 with discussions on artistic production in Avignon, the 1547 contest between Chalons and Camille Tresontin; and finally the years 1550-1557 looking at Challons' last works including 'Mise au tombeau' and 'Christ en croix entre Saint Roch et Saint Sebastien' as well as the contributions of his workshop. Followed by a catalogue of twenty works by Chalons and two paintings attributed to Leon Guigues and three to Elezar de Mailley. Each work is illustrated and described in detail with a bibliography.
