‎Polytechnicien et ingénieur des Ponts-et-Chaussées, Jean-Baptiste Krantz (1817-1899) n'a que 30 ans lorsqu'il rédige ces deux études à la veille de la chute de la monarchie de Juillet. Il y propose d'utiliser l'armée pour la construction des grandes infrastructures qui fleurissent en ces débuts de la Révolution industrielle. Bon état (rares petits frott., notice biographique d'un homonyme montée en garde).‎
